Ian was my longest standing friend from our days at university, the Air Squadron and Cranwell - and the only one I stayed friends with for over 50 years.
Postings took us to different places, but we remained in contact - including the delight of being in the Guard of Honour at his wedding to Anne. Then, our many years as like minded Trustees of the RAF Club, cemented the bond.
We were so looking forward to seeing Ian and Anne at our joint, deferred 50-Year Club Members' Reception. Now we will mark the event in Ian's memory.
He was a great man.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
